Mark Gell

Director

With a knack for strategic thinking and connecting dots, Mark finds unique opportunities for clients to enhance their reputations. Mark has 35 years of agency and client-side experience translating business strategy into integrated, multi-channel PR campaigns and strategies.


Mark began his career as a senior policy adviser to a NSW Premier and later worked in senior PR and corporate affairs roles with Telstra, Lend Lease, TNT, Boral and OneSteel. He has also managed two Sydney-based PR agencies.


Mark has deep expertise in reputation management, crisis management, areas of corporate positioning and strategy, investor relations, media engagement and stakeholder management. 


With his extensive background in managing and advising on major mergers and acquisitions, he is a trusted adviser during transactions, particularly at the strategy, due diligence, process and implementation phases.


Mark has extensive experience at board level having held Chairman and Director positions with industry associations, social ventures and start-ups.


Mark holds an Economics degree from the University of Sydney, an Executive MBA and General Management Qualification from the AGSM, and a Director’s Diploma at the AICD.

Patrick Southam Partner at Reputation Edge

Patrick Southam

Director

A 35-year Sydney PR veteran, Patrick has a strong reputation as a strategic PR thinker. He consistently helps clients achieve PR success through incisive and practical media relations, social media, reputation management and corporate communications.


Patrick spent 6 years as a business journalist, and his understanding and knowledge of the changing media landscape is second-to-none. 

Patrick honed his PR and communication skills at senior in-house PR roles at Carlton & United Breweries, Optus, Royal Philips, the Commonwealth Bank, NAB, Visa and ING.


He has been involved in managing many high-stakes issues and PR crises, and is a trusted adviser to CEOs and senior executives on complex stakeholder management issues.


Patrick has a degree in Journalism and Politics (Macquarie Univ), a Master’s Degree in Communication Management (UTS), and postgraduate qualifications in management from the MGSM.

Jon Sweet Partner at Reputation Edge

Jon Sweet

Director

Jon is an Olympian, having competed for Australia at the 1998 Nagano Winter Olympics in freestyle skiing.


‘Off piste’, he works with clients on integrated marketing, PR and communications and project management. He specialises in helping clients to build and manage highly complex projects and work programmes to achieve a profitable and successful outcome. His ability to structure, control, lead and execute communications and stakeholders projects ensures an outstanding successful result.


His key areas of expertise are project management, stakeholder engagement, corporate positioning and strategy, investor relation, social media and reputation management.


Prior to PR consulting Jon held senior management roles with OneSteel, Arrium, Jemena, AICD, and Ruralco Holdings.


He has an Executive MBA from the AGSM, a Bachelor of Business from La Trobe University, and a Post Graduate Certification Project Management (RMIT). He is also a certified PRINCE2 Project Management Practitioner

Joe draws on over 35 years’ experience in PR, media and politics at senior levels. He specialises in media coaching, media relations, issues management and government relations


Joe spent six years in Canberra working as a senior media and policy adviser to three cabinet ministers in the Rudd and Gillard governments. He has worked for all of Australia’s commercial television news networks as a producer and journalist, covering news, politics, sport and business. 

In a distinguished media career he has reported and produced news for Channel 7, Channel 9, Channel 10 and Sky News. He was the founding producer of the long-running Sports Tonight programme on Network Ten and covered the Sydney 2000 Olympics and the 2006 Torino Winter Olympics. 


Joe began his career as a print journalist on The Australian. He has previously lectured in journalism and media studies at the University of Technology in Sydney where he completed a Master’s Degree in Journalism.

Corena is a results-oriented stakeholder management professional with a successful track record of delivering complex projects in sensitive environments. She specialises in project management that builds cooperation and enhances effective implementation.

With a deep understanding of government and public sector processes, she has led high profile initiatives for the NSW Department of Premier and Cabinet, NSW Department of Family and Community Services and the Commonwealth Department of Environment and Heritage.



Corena is focussed on helping businesses build partnerships and manage the interface with the public sector; including understanding processes and priorities, reaching key decision-makers and securing government funding for relevant projects.

Jenni Beattie leads our Digital Media practice. She has over 25 years’ experience in communication and digital media with News Ltd, iSentia and CARMA International.

As a pioneer of social media since 2006, Jenni has also lectured and tutored in social media at the University of Technology Sydney, and developed Digital Marketing curriculum materials for a private college.



In 2016 she was a semi-finalist (team submission) in the Stanford University MedX Social Media Challenge.

We are privileged to have access to Dr Donald Alexander of Charles Sturt University as a special PR adviser to our clients. Dr Alexander is one of Australia’s foremost academic authorities on modern PR and communications techniques.


Prior to academia he managed senior PR roles in the finance and manufacturing sectors, and was also a principal in Sydney-based PR consultancies.


With his in-depth knowledge of current best practice communication, Donald is available to advise clients on practical approaches to managing PR and communication programmes.


Donald holds a Bachelor of Laws, and recently completed a PhD in organisational communication at Charles Sturt University where he lectures in the School of Communication and Creative Industries.
